SYNCHRONICITY AND THE MYSTERY OF SEDONA

    This past Labor Day I had the wonderful opportunity to travel to Sedona Arizona with two of my wonderful clients/students/friends. Lori and Yvette had planned the trip and, on impulse, after having a reading with me  earlier in the year, thought it would be fun to bring along their favorite psychic, moi, to create our own little learning retreat.

    Though I had been to the four corners region on Encampment with my Native American teacher, Oh Shinnah, many years before, I had never experienced Sedona. It is an amazing site, rising up from the gray desert of Phoenix and the surrounding towns, the brilliant blood red rocks form pinnacles and spires that literally light up the sky!

    Inevitably, on any of my journeys, a deck of cards or two will pipe up that they want to come along and jump in my luggage. This trip was no different. Along with a crowd of crystals insistent on coming and being energized in the vortexes, my deck of 20012 Mayan Oracle cards wanted to come along. I told my companions that each of us should choose a card in the morning before beginning our adventures and then be attentive to the synchronicities that would unfold. On our first day I chose "Scorpion" and both my companions chose "Parrot". In the car as we made fun of the fact that the girls chatter like parrots, and I was hoping I wouldn't meet any live scorpions on our hikes, conversation turned to the origins of the labyrinth.

    When  we reached Sedona our first stop was the Vistiors Center, and there behind the desk was a poster of ancient Native American petroglyphs featuring a labyrinth! The  rangers told us that this site, over 4,000 years old, was just a mile down the road. So we decided to take a look. Walking along the dusty trail to the site I came upon, you guessed it, a Scorpion claw, which now safely resides in my medicine bag.

As the archeologist/historian went on to describe the meanings and possible ceremonies surrounding the use of the site by Native peoples, he mentioned that Parrot skulls had been excavated at the site. Needless to say, this serendipity caught our attention.
